The Driving Test is changing. Most of the details seem to have been more or less finalised, and it looks like, after being trialled late last year, most of what was tried will be implemented.
The left reverse (reverse around a corner) and turn in the road (three point turn) look set to be removed from the test. Test candidates will have to drive forward into a bay, then reverse out of it. The independent driving section of the test will change from being around a quarter of the test to about half of it, and will involve following the guidance of a satnav.
I’ve been doing both of these things with my pupils for the last couple of years, and think that both things are a good idea. The satnav driving in particular has been a useful and fun way to develop driving skills.
So bring it on! Paul Sharp School of Motoring is ready!
